Over 50 fashion, why talk about it?
Just yesterday I was chatting with a client about the difference between beauty and attractiveness. The client was telling me that she no longer felt comfortable with her appearance because of her advancing age, all the more so because she was particularly beautiful when she was young. I wanted to reassure her by telling her that beauty passes and charm remains, and what is important in a dress is the woman who wears it.
Advancing age is inexorable, there is really nothing one can do about it, but what actually worries me the most, at least regarding my life experience, is not being able to appreciate what is beautiful about me, at every age I will be lucky enough to go through. Let me explain, certainly in my twenties, or even in my thirties, my skin was smoother, I did not even have the shadow of a wrinkle (I was very lucky!!), today that I am going through the decade of forty I see a few small marks on my face, but this does not make me unhappy at all. In fact, I am convinced that there is a big difference between beauty and charm, and between the two, if I can choose, I choose charm!!!
At this age you have more awareness of yourself and your body, you know your strengths and weaknesses. Life experience gives us the luxury of an all-personal style, our outfits tell about who we are, what our life choices, experiences and travels are. Experimentation, at least in the area of our wardrobe, is fun but also moderation. We no longer belong, and may I say fortunately, to the excesses of the greener age. Our excesses, the garments we wear that may be a bit outside the lines, we wear for a good reason: a romantic dinner or for a simple and fun flirtation.
So it is awareness that is the origin and the core of glamour. This is my conviction, and it is from this point that I started when I created my Over 50 Collection dedicated to those women who know exactly what they want.
The answer to the question from which this short post starts, namely whether it makes sense to talk about a fashion dedicated to the mature age, the answer is definitely yes. Let's talk about it, often and at great length. I propose to return to the topic in this blog dedicated to Style Matters.
