The key role of the right elegant shrug for you
Why wear a shrug over an elegant dress?
You've probably already spent a lot of time on search engines and the websites of fashion brands you love, searching for the perfect dress for that elegant occasion you've been longing for. A dinner out with your partner, your best friend's wedding, your wedding anniversary, an evening at the theater, a cocktail by the sea—the opportunities to wear a low-cut dress and feel beautiful are endless and always new. But often, you see a reflection in the mirror that doesn't quite satisfy you. I know, we've all been there. The dress you bought online might be a little more low-cut than you expected, maybe the color of the fabric isn't perfect for your skin tone, or maybe you simply want a little something extra to make it more sophisticated or personalized.
I often reflect on these things, focusing more on the color or the yarn used, while I rarely focus on so-called "physical flaws" because, honestly, they're not exactly the focus of my attention. What really matters to me is how much the dress I wear reflects my mood and my personality. The question I ask myself in the mirror is: "Is that really me?" If the answer is "yes, but..." then I start thinking about how to better personalize my outfit.
If my focus is more on the color of the dress, or on the neckline that's perhaps a little too low for the occasion, then a well-chosen shawl in both style and color is right for me.
In fact, if my goal is to show off the roundness of my shoulders and only allow a glimpse of the generousity of my neckline, I will choose a shrug in mohair, a very fine wool that is not only extremely warm but also quite transparent.
The Mela Wedding collection offers a large selection of elegant mohair shrugs for ceremonies at this link .
The key choices to make
Once I've chosen the fine yarn that I think is best suited to the occasion—for example, a cool summer evening or a dinner in a splendid restaurant in Rome in winter—I then move on to the next choice, namely the most suitable color.
If the dress I've chosen is already a bright color, like red, fuchsia, or grass green, then my shrug will be a more serene and minimal shade, like nude, dove gray, or pearl gray.
If, on the other hand, my dress isn't extremely bright in color, but is more subdued, sober, and elegant, then my shrug could have a melange shade, a lurex thread that illuminates it like a silver thread and makes it more glamorous.
The Mela Weddig collection of elegant formal shrugs can be customized in color, as we have a vast catalog of yarns and colors to choose from. They can be embellished with lurex thread or a simple design of certified Swarovski crystals. I'm always available to share my image consulting expertise and advise you on your choice via WhatsApp .
